From the Vault | Fall Diffuser Blends & Iced Coffee
09 October 2018
When I wrote this post last year the change in weather was just starting and had me excited for the fall season, much like now-- although I can do without the recent 80 degree days. I mean, it's October and I just sent my girls off to school in late summer type attire. I know I'm in the minority when I say that I've been enjoying the rainy and gray mornings. These are typically the types of days that I enjoy spending in cozy socks with a steamy mug of tea or coffee. The fall decor is officially out, and it's simple this year-- our year has been has one of new change so I'm just taking it all slow and getting adjusted to our new surroundings. That being said-- as far as clothing goes I'm definitely counting down the days until scarves, ankle booties and flannel shirts are acceptable daily attire.
As for drinks of the season I'm still not a PSL fan. I love pumpkin, but real pumpkin and only in specific ways. I've been waiting two years to see if Starbucks will bring back my favorite seasonal drink, the Spiced Sweet Cream Cold Brew-- not to be confused with the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. They haven't yet so I'm still making mine at home. I make my cold brew in my french press and let it steep overnight. And then I add the cream and syrup recipe to my liking.
And - while I still do like to burn the occasional candle for ambiance, I also really love diffusing my oils during the fall months because there are so many great 'fall' related scents that also have immune boosting effects. During this season that is always a extra added bonus (with all of the back to school cooties that make their way home)!
So if you pop by our house on an October morning you will probably catch me with my Spiced Cold Brew in hand and the Warm Cinnamon Buns blend in the diffuser, only one has calories included.

Spiced Sweet Cream Cold Brew [or Hot] Coffee
directions:
Combine 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1 cinnamon stick, 3 whole cloves, and 1/4 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and let steep at least 30 minutes or up to overnight. Strain into a clean container. Meanwhile, make the vanilla sweet cream by stirring 1/4 cup cream, 1/2 tsp. sugar, and 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract in a small bowl to combine. Keep components in the fridge. When you are ready to make your coffee just mix 12 ounces of cold brew or hot coffee with 2–4 Tbsp. vanilla sweet cream and 1–2 tsp. maple-spiced simple syrup, adjust the amounts depending on how sweet you like it.

Forgotten Laundry & Essential Oils
22 September 2017
Happy Friday Friends!
I don't know about everyone else out there but I'm not strong in my 'laundry' game and believe me there is plenty to go around in this house- farm clothes, kids clothes, baby clothes, etc... But, folks; laundry has always been a struggle for me because I put it in the washer, add detergent (the fun part) and then get distracted by a child or another household task and forget the load for about half a day and then it's (drumroll) TOO LATE! That smell, we all know it- has started to set in. I usually always have a million excuses but it really just comes down to forgetfulness and hating the task of laundry. I'm telling you, this is my kryptonite. So here are some tips of how to save your load of laundry and infuse a good smell instead of a musty one!!
My favorite oil to use for stunk up laundry is- Purify! Purify is a combination of Lemon, Lime, Pine, Citronella, Melaleuca, and Cilantro essential oils. When diffused, Purify Cleansing Blend can help eliminate odors from pets, cigarettes, mildew, trash, food, and much more.
Above is a link to a spotlight post on Purify if you're interested in knowing what else this amazing oil can do.

Fall Diffuser Blends and a Starbucks Drink Hack
06 September 2017
The change in weather has me excited for the fall season that is rapidly approaching! I've been enjoying the rainy and gray mornings, the ones spent in cozy socks with a steamy mug of tea or coffee. Now that Ava is back in school, my goal is to start getting out the fall decorations and working slowly at prepping the house for my favorite season. I'm counting down the days until scarves, ankle booties and flannel shirts are acceptable attire. I'm not a PSL fan but I can't wait to see if Starbucks brings back my favorite drink from last year, the Spiced Sweet Cream Cold Brew. But until they do I found a hack for creating one at home, hot or cold! It seems super simple and the ingredient list is mostly common panty staples so I can't wait to try it out today! Check it out here!
While I still do like to burn candles for ambiance purposes I also really love diffusing during the fall months because there are so many great 'fall' related scents and they have immune boosting effects are an added bonus (especially with all of the back to school cooties that make their way home)! So you'll probably catch me today with my Spiced Cold Brew hack in hand and Warm Cinnamon Buns in the diffuser!
These are my top 4 favorite Fall Diffuser Blends to kick off the season!

Tips and Tricks for Detox Baths
10 June 2017
First of all, we love modern medicine. We use it in our house, go to the doctor, vaccinate our children and give them OTC meds and antibiotics when necessary. But, I also love trying natural and home remedies for minor aches and illnesses at times when medicine isn't needed as the first step towards healing the body.
When Ava started dragging home the 'preschool cooties' I decided to add something to our weekly routine that has really helped. Along with the girls daily vitamins, weekly elderberry syrup & diffusing essential oils to help purify the air (and promote restful sleep) we also started giving them detox baths once a week as another preventive strike. If I notice the girls showing signs of muscle & joint pain (growing pains), irritability & sleeplessness, stuffy or runny nose with sneezing and coughing I'll quick toss them in a detox bath. It helps to draw the toxins out through the skin and hopefully help to ease the burden on their little livers. I even take these baths myself, because when someone tells you to go take a twenty minute mandatory bath you say, heck yes! Do you hear me moms, its like..hello, sign me up!
Detox Bath Tips:
- The detox bath is designed to open the skin’s pores, so I don't wash bodies or hair during this particular tub time. Just set a timer for 20 minutes, put on some Disney radio tunes and give them tub toys to play with.
- If your water is unfiltered then you will need to neutralize it by adding ¼ cup natural baking soda. Add this 5-7 minutes before getting in to help alkalize the water and neutralize chemicals, including chlorine.
- If adding essential oils to the bath then only use 'top quality' therapeutic-grade oils. I recommend dōterra and young living, they are very reputable brands. I don’t recommend purchasing any oils from say...Walmart. Those brands have many 'other' fillers in them.
- Also be sure to drink a cup of water afterward to replenish, and they can cause drowsiness so be prepared to relax.
